THE FREEBIRD
From
Everywhere - Performing Friday @11:00PM
In
years past, in nearly every sketch comedy festival in
the country, there has been a common feature. Chicago
calls it “Sketch-U-Bator.” Seattle calls
it “Push.” New York calls it “The
Craptacular.” We’ve been known to call it
“The Scramble Bamble.” It has usually
consisted of the participants of a given festival
performing either new, experimental or just plain
stupid sketches that they either didn’t have
time for in their regular shows, or, as is probably
more often the case, are taking a chance to step out
of their usual boxes a bit. The results are a total
crapshoot. Sometimes, you get a collection of genius
pieces (as was the case in “The Great
Sketch-U-Bator of Aught-Six,” or “The
Legendary Craptacular of Oh-Seven.” But
sometimes, just sometimes (ok, a lot of times), you
get a haphazard free-for-all that bewilders, stuns and
just makes you scratch your head.
Those days are done.
In keeping with the spirit of our festival, we are taking
the risk out of the equation. We are guaranteeing quality.
We have asked each of the troupes to dig deep and pull out
one or two of their most-respected and most-requested
sketches from their pasts and perform them together in one
amazing show.
Some might call it The Best Of The Best Of The Best. But we
call it...
THE
FREEBIRD
“...and you have burned oh so brightly, Roy...”
