DARK EYED STRANGERS
From
Chicago - Performing Saturday @ 8:00pm

The Dark Eyed Strangers's's's approach to sketch comedy is
to be as theatrical as possible, featuring heightened
production values and an array of dramatic conventions
rarely utilized in sketch presentations. DES (as the cool
kids call them) avoid political and topical material,
focusing instead on character interaction while finding
humor in darker, more unforgiving subject matter. Heavily
influenced by Greco-Roman theatre, early work would
culminate in Brandon Campbell leg-wrestling audience
members while Brad Helm lifted a pregnant woman above his
head. This scared away much of the original cast, leaving
Campell & Helm to produce a more erotically-charged
two-man show. But Helm's out of control lifestyle and
weight gain made this unfeasible. Post-recovery the freshly
slimmed down 350 lb. Helm once again teamed up with on
again/off again lifelong friend Brandon (integrity reborn).
The two recruited Tony St.Clair, Campbell's fellow alum
from Portland's
The 3rd
Floor,
and Chicago actress Lacy Coil. With the fresh additions,
this foursome has further realized their original
concept of innovative and truly distinctive sketch
theater. Also, Brandon and Lacy have been dating for
some time. Pay attention, the sexual tension is
heartbreaking and delicious.
